Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

Arrival Cochin & City Tour

Arrival Cochin by flight. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel. Rooms foreseen from 12 Noon onwards on this day. Afternoon city tour of Cochin - visit the Mattancherry Dutch Palace (open from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs, closed on Fridays and public holidays), which was built by the Portuguese in 1555 and renovated by the Dutch in 1663. In the ancient rooms are 17th century murals that relate in vibrant colour the story of the epic Ramayana. Later visit of Fort Cochin Area - legend dates Jewish trade with Kerala from the times of King Solomon. Visit St. Francis Church (open from 09.00 to 13.00 hrs. and 14.30 to 17.30 hrs., closed for visitors on Sundays from 08.00 to 11.00 hrs.) the oldest European Church in India. See the Chinese Fishing Nets, unique to this part of Kerala and living symbols of a centuries-old Chinese influence on this coast.

Day 02

Cochin to Periyar

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit a Jewish Synagogue (open 10.00 to 12.00 hrs. & 15.00 to 17.00 hrs, closed on all Fridays/ Saturdays and Jewish holidays) in Jew Town. Later proceed for Periyar and on arrival check in at the hotel.

Day 03

Periyar Wildlife Experience

Early morning tea/ coffee at the hotel. 0700: Nature walk - proceed for Periyar sanctuary visit. Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady, is an example of nature's bounty, with great scenic charm, rich bio diversity and providing veritable visitor satisfaction. Sprawled over an area of 925 Sq.km., Periyar is one of the 27 tiger reserves in India. After the visit return to hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. 1100: Proceed for an elephant ride in the private plantation which is quite interesting and the ride is of around 30 Minutes. Return to hotel and rest of the day at leisure. 1530: Proceed for the boat ride in the Periyar Sanctuary - The visit is organized by the government and is done by common boat. View the wild life on board the boat.

Day 04

Periyar to Kumarakom

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning proceed by surface for Kumarakom enroute visit of Spice Plantation. (In this region there is no coffee plantation as such and not prominent. However visit to Spice Plantation is quite interesting). Arrive Kumarkom and check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Late afternoon/ evening sunset boat cruise in the lake Vembanad (provided with compliments from the hotel for resident guests).

Day 05

Houseboat Cruise to Alleppey

Breakfast at leisure at the hotel. Late morning board the air conditioned houseboat for an overnight boat cruise to Alleppy. The city of Alleppey with its tranquil, deeply shaded maze of canals and backwaters has rightly been called the Venice of the East. Cruise down the centuries-old backwaters flanked by picture-book towns and ancient trading ports. Lunch on board the houseboat. In the evening the house boat is anchored and does not move. Dinner and overnight on board the house boat.

Day 06

Alleppey to Cochin Departure

Breakfast on board the houseboat. Morning disembark from the houseboat and proceed for Cochin. Arrival and directly transfer to the airport to connect flight for onward journey. Flight check in starts three hours before the schedule departure time.
