Day 01

Day 02

Arrive Kathmandu by flight + Visit Kathmandu

On arrival, meeting and assistance at the airport and transfer to hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. Lunch at a restaurant. Visit Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, Kumari Bahal (Living Goddess residence). Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 03

In Kathmandu

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning: Visit Swayambhunath (Buddhist stupa, 2500 years old). Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon: Visit Patan (Lalitpur), Krishna Temple, Golden Temple, Tibetan Refugee Camp & Handicraft Center. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 04

Kathmandu/ Paro by flight + Paro/ Thimphu (55 kms/ 1½ Hours)

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning: Transfer to airport for flight to Paro (flight schedule subject to change). Spectacular Himalayan views en route. On arrival, meet guide and drive to Thimphu, stopping at Chuzom (confluence of rivers) and Tschogang Lhakhang. Check in at hotel in Thimphu. Lunch at hotel. Afternoon: Visit King's Memorial Chorten, Trashichhoedzong (fortress/monastery). Evening: Walk around Thimphu Main Street and Local Crafts Bazaar. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Thimphu.

Day 05

Thimphu – Gangtey (150 Kms / 05 Hrs Drive)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) for valley views and prayers. Drive to Gangtey (Phobjikha) via Dochula Pass (3080m, panoramic Himalayan views) and Wangdue Phodrang (local market, bamboo products). Arrive Gangtey, stroll around village. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Gangtey.

Day 06

Gangtey – Punakha (75 Kms / 03 Hrs Drive)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Gangtey Goempa (Nyingmapa monastery), enjoy Gangtey Nature Trail (5.5km, ~2 hours, easy walk). Drive to Punakha, check in at hotel. Visit Punakha Dzong (at river confluence), explore Punakha village. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Punakha.

Day 07

Punakha – Paro (120 Kms / 4½ Hrs Drive Approx)

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Chimi Lhakhang (temple of fertility, 1.5hr walk through fields and village). Drive to Paro via Simtokha Dzong (oldest fortress, Buddhist studies school). Lunch at hotel. Visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), walk to Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong). Dinner and overnight at hotel in Paro.

Day 08

In Paro

Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest, ~5hr walk, 900m above valley floor). Afternoon: Drive to Drukgyel Dzong (ruined fortress, Chomolhari views). Evening: Visit Kyichu Lhakhang (7th century temple). Dinner and overnight at hotel in Paro.

Day 09

Paro to Kathmandu by flight

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Kathmandu (flight timing subject to change). On arrival, transfer to hotel. Lunch at hotel. Afternoon: Visit Pashupatinath (Hindu temple, Bagmati river) and Boudhanath (Buddhist stupa, Tibetan Buddhism center). Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Leave Kathmandu
